The Hague academy winter courses are for students and practitioners seeking a deeper understanding of international law, whether public or private. To attend the courses, applicants must apply online. Applicants holding a three-year university law degree (LL.B. or other) on the start date of the upcoming Winter Courses, or a document certifying 3 completed years of university studies in law, preferably having already followed some courses on international law are eligible to apply. Eligible applicants are reviewed on a ‘first come, first serve' basis from the moment the registration period opens on May 1st. The scholarships available are partially funded or fully funded. In addition, a programme of scholarships based on merit criteria, including academic level, scientific publications and professional experience, allows approximately 15% of promising attendees (students, young lawyers or diplomats) of the Academy's Winter and Summer Courses in The Hague to benefit from financial support. The scholarships are funded by public and private bodies, including the Academy, as well as distinguished individuals from various countries. The Secretary-General selects the scholarship recipients on behalf of the Curatorium.
